Tongue Piercing is a popular piercing with both men and women. The most important things for a successful Tongue piercing are the placement of the piercing and sizing of jewellery. Tongue piercing is usually placed in the middle of the tongue being very careful not to pierce to far back into the webbing under the tongue. When having your tongue pierced it is important to start with a longer barbell to allow for the swelling. It is also important to use only the highest quality body jewellery such as 316L Surgical Stainless Steel, 18ct Solid Gold or Titanium and it is our recommendation to always use internally threaded barbells. Here at Dundrum Piercing we carry an extensive range of tongue barbells and barbell ends and specialise in custom-made body jewellery. The healing time can vary from person to person depending on their health and whether or not they follow the aftercare instructions. The first 14 days are crucial in the healing process. During this period it is important not to touch or play with the piercing unless cleaning, no oral contact, maintain good oral hygiene and to be careful with hot or spicy foods. We recommend to change the long barbell to a shorter barbell after the first two to three weeks and to make sure that only the highest quality jewellery is used at all times.
