DERMAL ANCHORS (MICRO-DERMALS)
The latest ‘buzz’ in the body modification world are these dermal anchors. They can be place virtually anywhere, unlike traditional ‘surface’ piercings. The piercer makes a small ‘pocket’ with a dermal punch and places the anchor in it.
How does it feel? Well, the people that have had it say that there is very little discomfort – much like a normal piercing but without the ‘pop’ as the needle doesn’t need to pierce right through the skin. Because there is very little trauma to the surrounding tissue, healing time tends to be minimal in the people we’ve seen. Saline soaks can be used if there is any lymphatic discharge and bio oil is useful to promote healing and getting the tissue to ‘bond’ back. Anecdotal evidence suggests that this should have a very high rate of success. –> back to top

SURFACE PIERCING
Surface piercings are any body piercings that take place on the surface of the body through areas which are not particularly concave or convex, where the piercing canal transverses a surface flap of skin, rather than running completely through a piece of body tissue from one side to another. A surface bar follows the plane of skin, while a standard piercing is pierced through the plane. Sometimes surface piercings are difficult to heal, because, as the body rejects the body jewellery as a foreign object, the jewellery is pushed to the surface, causing the piercing to grow out. Proper placement and jewellery selection by our experienced body piercers can help alleviate this problem. A well done surface can last anywhere several years. Why do surface piercings reject? Most of the time when small objects are placed under the skin, your body pushes them out like a splinter. In the case of a piercing, this happens from the outside edges in. However, we use staple shaped bars to fit into the size of your surface piercing. These bars so far, for the last 15 years, have had a 99% success rate. –> back to top
NECK (NAPE/NUCHAE) PIERCING
A neck is another form of surface piercing. It is at the base of the neck. Our neck piercings have a very low rate of rejection and Glen’s “staple” bars have a 100% success rate! –> back to top
