Cartilage Piercing is a popular piercing with both men and women. The most important things for a successful Cartilage piercing are the placement of the piercing and sizing of jewellery. Cartilage piercing is usually placed anywhere between the ear lobe to the top of the ear. This piercing can take a while to settle down, as it is in an area that is prone to being knocked easily, especially when sleeping. Care should be taken not to get hair products on the piercing during the first 14 days. It is important to use only the highest quality body jewellery such as 316L Surgical Stainless Steel, 18ct Solid Gold or Titanium. Here at Dundrum Piercing we carry an extensive range of cartilage jewellery and specialise in custom-made body jewellery. Dundrum Piercing recommends against the use of ear piercing guns. The healing time can vary from person to person depending on their health and whether or not they follow the aftercare instructions. The first 14 days are crucial in the healing process. During this period it is important not to touch the piercing unless cleaning (twice a day for the first 14 days with an antiseptic solution that Dundrum Piercing provides), and to be careful not to knock the piercing. For the first 3 to 6 months it is not unusual to experience some secretion from the piercing, as this is part of the healing process. We advise not to change the jewellery for the first 8 to 12 weeks and to make sure that only the highest quality body jewellery is used at all times.
